What Is the Scout Game on GitDealFlow?

The Scout Game is a forward-looking version of what /receipts measures retrospectively. Where Scout Receipts grade your past taste (validated unicorns starred pre-event), the Scout Game grades your future calls.

How it works. Visit /predict, paste any GitHub organization, set your confidence (Low / Medium / High / Very High), and submit. Your prediction is recorded. Six months later, the prediction auto-resolves: if the org announced a Series A or later round during the window, your prediction was correct; otherwise it was incorrect. Points are awarded based on confidence level, higher confidence = more points if right, more points lost if wrong.

The rank ladder. Five tiers based on accuracy and prediction volume: - Curious, anyone with at least 1 resolved prediction - Scout, 60%+ accuracy across 5+ resolved predictions - Sharp, 65%+ accuracy across 15+ resolved predictions - Elite, 70%+ accuracy across 30+ resolved predictions - Oracle, 75%+ accuracy across 50+ resolved predictions

Public leaderboard. All resolved scores appear on /leaderboard. Each scout has a public profile at /s/[handle] showing their rank, total predictions, accuracy, and active predictions. Anyone can share a profile URL as a verifiable scouting track record.

Free vs paid. Free tier: 3 predictions per month, basic profile, public leaderboard inclusion. Insider Circle (EUR 197/month): 10 predictions per month, advanced filtering, private prediction notes.

Founder Scout badge. The first 100 scouts to make at least one prediction receive a permanent Founder Scout badge on their profile and leaderboard listing. The badge is non-transferable.

Why play. For working investors and aspiring scouts, the Scout Game is a low-cost, public way to build a verifiable track record without managing money. For VCs evaluating scout candidates, it provides quantitative evidence of taste before allocating a check or scout slot. Several emerging fund managers cite their Scout Game profile in LP pitch decks as quantitative evidence of sourcing instinct.

The game is open to anyone. It is a public prediction exercise with no money involved, no securities transactions, and no accreditation requirement, so an email address is enough to start building a scouting record. That openness is deliberate, it lets aspiring scouts demonstrate taste before anyone has given them a check to manage.

Predictions are immutable by design. Once submitted, a call cannot be edited or deleted, because the entire value of the track record depends on past calls not being revised after the fact. This is the same logic that makes the leaderboard meaningful, a profile whose history can be rewritten proves nothing.

Predictions that never resolve are handled cleanly. If an org goes private, deletes its public repositories, or otherwise becomes unmeasurable during the six-month window, the prediction is marked unresolved and removed from accuracy stats without awarding or deducting points. The scoring only reflects calls that actually reached a measurable outcome.

Sharing is built in. Each scout has a public profile that shows rank, total predictions, accuracy, and active predictions, and a share endpoint generates a short-lived preview link with an HMAC signature for controlled sharing. For an emerging manager, pointing an LP to a profile URL is a way to attach evidence to a claim about sourcing instinct.

The confidence ladder rewards calibration, not just volume. Because a correct call at higher confidence earns more and a wrong call at higher confidence costs more, the game nudges players toward stating confidence they can actually defend. That is closer to how scouting judgment is really exercised than a flat count of correct guesses.

Viewing the leaderboard requires no account at all. Anyone can read the public rankings and per-scout profiles without logging in, and an account is only needed to actually submit predictions. That low barrier means a prospective scout can study what good calibrated judgment looks like, or an LP can inspect a candidate's history, before anyone creates a profile of their own.
